Our Story

Empowering Young Musicians

Instrument Explorers with Mimi & Dodo™ © was created by Eva Brandys, an accomplished pianist, educator, and music school founder, to make early music education engaging, meaningful, and accessible—especially for the youngest learners.

Eva Brandys is the founder and director of multiple music schools, including Park Cities School of Music, Lakewood Conservatory of Fine Arts, and Young Artist Music School. With over two decades of teaching experience in the United States and Europe, Eva has worked closely with children of all ages and abilities. As her schools grew, so did the demand from families eager to enroll their youngest children—often as young as three years old—into music programs.

Through years of hands-on teaching, Eva recognized a significant gap: there were very few developmentally appropriate, high-quality music education resources designed specifically for preschool-aged children. Traditional methods were often too abstract or academically demanding for this age group. This need inspired the creation of Instrument Explorers with Mimi & Dodo™ ©—a method born directly from real classroom experience and the needs of real families.

Instrument Explorers is all about hands-on discovery. Children are guided through a musical adventure where they touch, play, and explore a wide range of instruments—from violins and guitars to drums and flutes. Each session introduces the families of instruments—strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion—helping children recognize their sounds, shapes, and characteristics. It’s not just about hearing music; it’s about feeling vibrations, exploring textures, and experimenting with sound. Each child explores new instruments regularly, fostering curiosity, confidence, and a growing sense of musical preference.

The method is grounded in Eva Brandys’ professional training and certifications in Orff Schulwerk, Kodály, and Dalcroze Eurhythmics, ensuring that learning is developmentally appropriate, experiential, and aligned with best practices in early childhood music education. Musical concepts are introduced gradually through exploration, movement, listening, and play—never rushed and never forced.

Today, Instrument Explorers with Mimi & Dodo™ © includes carefully designed workbooks, method books, flashcards, and interactive materials that introduce musical instruments, rhythm, sound, and foundational music concepts while respecting each child’s individual pace of development.

Whether used by parents at home, teachers in the classroom, or homeschool families seeking structured music activities, Instrument Explorers with Mimi & Dodo™ © transforms curiosity into real musical understanding—one joyful discovery at a time.
